Counselling Services – Saskatoon

General Information:

Individual counselling is available for children (ages 8 and up), adolescents, and adults.

Child and adolescent counselling sessions typically include 30-45 minutes with the child and 15-30 minutes with the parents/family. Adult counselling sessions are 60 minutes. Counselling fees are $120 per hour.

As a Registered Psychologist (Provisional), the counsellor receives direct supervision from a registered psychologist. This is done as part of the process for full registration licensure. This supervision, along with consultation with other members of the psychological services department at LDAS, is done in order to maintain professional standards, ethics, and to best assist you.

The Counselling Process:

The first step is to contact LDAS to set up an intake interview. You will then be referred to the counsellor. The counsellor will work with you to determine your counselling goals. Using predominantly Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) techniques, the counsellor will work with you to explore unhelpful thinking patterns, develop new strategies, and build on your current strengths to work towards possible solutions.

Your Responsibilities as a Client:

  • If you are unable to attend an appointment, please give us 24 hours notice or as soon as possible. This allows the counsellor to provide services to someone else who is waiting for services during that time if needed.
  • Please update contact information with us if you have a change of address, phone number, or e-mail address
  • Your feedback about services is important in helping the counsellor maintain and improve her abilities. You may be asked to complete a feedback form each session.
