The ‘Perfect’ Social Story: A Workshop for Professionals. Parents, Caregivers, and Teachers
Are you a professional, parent or caregiver who wants to learn to write the ‘perfect’ Social Story? Are you saying, “Yea, I write them but they never seem to work,” or, “I have some good ones that I recycle every year”? Well, this is the workshop for you!
There is research evidence to substantiate that, if written correctly, Social Stories can be successful in teaching children appropriate behavior. This is a hands-on workshop so bring your own samples and laptop as we will be working in PowerPoint. Previous knowledge of PowerPoint is essential. We will
- Review usage of Social Stories, Comic Strips, Social Scripts
- Briefly review material available on Social Stories
- Understand that each child is unique and that stories or scripts need to be constructed to meet the cognitive level and interests of that child.
- Construct that ‘perfect’ social story that meets the cognitive and behavioural needs of a child.
